„Think Hungary – more than expected”, is the title of MT Zrt’s short film showcasing Hungary. The movie was made back in 2013 to broaden the world’s perception of Hungary beyond the „paprika, goulash, horses and inns” stereotype. In other words, to show the world Hungary’s hidden depths below the surface.
Hungary is the best of the continent
The film’s creators sought settings that reflect and embody our homeland, culture, creativity and progress with honour and dignity. This is why you’ll find Heroes’s square, the Thermal Baths in Hévíz, Széchenyi Baths, the Chain bridge, and the Hungarian sea, the Balaton heavily featured. And this is why you’ll also find at the start of the film the historic New York Coffee House too, the place where romance, creativity, and high art converge.
The tender, to be awarded to the best tourism-themed promotional film, was announced by the United Nations World Tourism Organization on the occasion of its 21st assembly. The winner was announced on Saturday, September 9th.
The 51 entries submitted by member states were judged and rewarded by region; Hungary was deemed fit to garner the prize for top European effort.
However, this is not the first time the video has received an accolade: in 2014, when New York Coffee House celebrated its centenary, it already had two prizes under its belt. The first of these, the so-called Silver Dolphin award, it received at the Cannes Corporates Media & TV Awards, the second, Best Touristic Image Film award, was awarded to it in Shanghai.
New York Coffee House, with its 120-year history and tradition has by today become a hallmark of Hungary. A focal hub of literature, culture, and the arts, defined by creativity, romance, and freedom of thought. So, it is not by chance that the prize-winning entry featuring the best of the country starts in the Most Beautiful Coffee House in the World.
New York Coffee House proudly carries on its historic tradition to the present, and welcomes its customers both from home and abroad; as the Most Beautiful Coffee House in the World, it continues to shine with elegance and class every day.
We are proud to have contributed to this success, and continue to cherish our homeland’s good name in New York Coffee House.
We congratulate the film’s creators on their success! Let the world see that there is more to Hungary than what first meets the eye.
