Iconic dishes – the Wiener schnitzel
The Wiener schnitzel, this incredibly simple yet delicious dish, features on the menu of almost every restaurant. It’s easy to make at home too, although if you want to enjoy a genuine Wiener schnitzel, it’s worth sticking to the original recipe – because it can only be made from veal; if made from any other type of meat, it’s no longer a Wiener schnitzel, but simply breaded meat.

Iconic dishes: beef goulash – a true Hungarian speciality
There are countless legends surrounding beef goulash, but one thing is certain: it is a true Hungarian speciality. The biggest misconception, however, centres on its origins; yet its centuries-long popularity is undeniable, and it is as much a part of Hungarian culture as the Puli dog.
Iconic dishes – Foie gras
Goose liver has a very long history and has not lost any of its popularity over the millennia. It is considered a true delicacy – not only because of its unique flavour and texture, but also due to the exceptionally beneficial ingredients it contains. In Hungary, it is a ‘Hungaricum’, but it is, of course, also enjoyed in other parts of the world.

Speciality coffees at the New York Café to suit every mood
Almost all of us like to start the day with a good cup of coffee. Whilst we’re drinking it, we gain time to organise our thoughts, pull ourselves together and give ourselves the chance to really wake up. And we generally like our coffee just the way we’re used to it. Coffee is a passion, a pleasure, a lifestyle – and, according to some, a reflection of our personality. Of course, there’s no scientific evidence to back this up; it’s based much more on observation. After all, it does happen from time to time that we make choices to suit our mood. And since our mood can change many times in the course of a day, it’s no bad thing to be near an excellent café during a busy period. If we’re in the mood for something special, let’s enjoy it in a special setting – at the World’s Most Beautiful Café!

A refreshing treat in the sweltering heat
Ice cream is a treat that has been with us for 5,000 years; thanks to the creativity of the Chinese, we can enjoy this refreshing dessert all over the world. Its ability to lower body temperature is scientifically recognised, so it’s no wonder it’s so popular, especially during the warmer months. Ice cream can be fruity, aromatic, vegetable-based or spicy, and there is a wide variety in terms of both texture and appearance.

Cocktails – a colourful spell
Nowadays, we can find refreshing, mood-lifting mixed drinks almost anywhere; we collectively refer to them as cocktails. However, these marvellous drinks have been with us for a very long time, although there is a difference in purpose between the early experiments and the drinks we now refer to as cocktails.

A few simple rules for enjoying luxury, or: restaurant etiquette you ought to know
There comes a time in most people’s lives when they need to attend an elegant venue. It might be for a festive occasion or a business meeting, or perhaps someone simply wants to treat themselves to a luxurious dinner, for example in the company of their partner. In more upmarket restaurants, however, the table settings are more elaborate, and the variety of items on the table can cause confusion and make you feel a bit uncomfortable. And we haven’t even got to the table yet. We’ve only just arrived.

Sweet treats at the New York Café when we just can’t resist a dessert
Sometimes we make room for dessert. When we dine at a restaurant where we know for certain that we’ll be served the very best of everything, we sometimes feel we simply must eat less of the main courses so that we can fully savour the splendour of the desserts. We certainly won’t go wrong if we make that decision at the New York Café.
